Raiders WR Davante Adams could join elite company Monday night

Davante Adams has a rare opportunity. One that provides a chance to prove he should be elevated into a group including the best wide receivers in NFL history.

Adams needs five receptions against the Chiefs to join Jerry Rice, Marvin Harrison, Larry Fitzgerald and Calvin Johnson as the only wideouts to reel in at least 700 receptions and 75 receiving touchdowns over their first nine seasons, per NFL Network's James Palmer.

To put this in perspective, if you're making a top-10 list of best wide receivers you would expect to see all of these players on it. Three are Pro Hall of Famers (Harrison, Johnson, and Rice) and Fitzgerald is a likely first-ballot candidate when he becomes eligible in 2026.

Many consider Rice as the best wide receiver of all-time, and he thinks Adams is his closest counterpart in the modern game.

"He just has the attitude if the ball is in the air it belongs to me," Rice told NBC Sports Bay Area. "And he's the type of guy that doesn't have any fear."

Adams' bold style rewarded him throughout his career. He's made five Pro Bowls and First-Team All-Pro twice.

The Raiders traded two 2022 first-round draft picks for the former Green Bay star. They hope he provides an extra punch that will help them keep up with the Chiefs dynamic offense.

Since Patrick Mahomes arrived in 2018, the Raiders have lost eight of nine against Kansas City. The last time they played in Arrowhead Stadium they lost 48-9.
