Rams' Aaron Donald reveals plan to play two more seasons before retiring

Mystery and intrigue have surrounded Aaron Donald since the Los Angeles Rams won last season's Super Bowl, and questions about his future in the league have remained largely unanswered.

At least, they did until this week kicked off with reports the defensive tackle plans to play two more NFL seasons before officially hanging up his cleats.

"I got a two-year commitment right now," Donald told NBC Sports's Peter King, "so I'm going to do everything I can while I'm here to help the organization win and be successful. I'm gonna last as long as I can, as long as I can play at a high level."

Donald flirted with the idea of retirement this offseason, saying he was "at peace" with what he has accomplished over his career. Even as his contract was restructured in June, there was still speculation Donald wasn't in it for the long haul.

Now as everyone knows, plans can change -- especially when you're talking about a couple of years down the road. But with the option to opt out of the last year of his contract if need be, it does appear that Donald can stick around for two more seasons as long as he stays healthy.

The 31-year-old recorded 12.5 sacks last season along with a career-high 84 combined tackles, 19 tackles for loss and 25 QB hits.
