The Los Angeles Rams continue to add to their big board ahead of NFL Draft weekend. Now a speedy 4.38 defender is on the NFC West champion's radar.
Defensive back Keyon Martin is garnering late intrigue out of Louisiana. The Ragin Cajuns standout drew in multiple interested teams at his local prospect Pro Day back in March. Now he's earning league attention as the draft is two weeks away -- with the Miami Dolphins inviting him to their local prospect Pro Day.
But, NFL insider Aaron Wilson of KPRC2 Houston revealed the Rams are among the teams looking at Martin too. Wilson includes the Dolphins -- featuring past Rams Super Bowl winner Jalen Ramsey -- and the Baltimore Ravens as two more franchises showing interest in the Group of Five prospect.
Martin not only blazed his 40-yard dash in under 4.4. Martin leaped to a 38" vertical jump and hit 10-4 in the broad jump at the March 25 Pro Day at UL, according to the Louisiana Advocate.
He's an undersized defender at 5-foot-9. Martin also played at 165-pounds last season. He still delivered 56 tackles including 45 solo stops. Martin even produced two tackles for a loss. He showed his best tackling work against Tulane (four solo tackles) and Wake Forest (five solo stops).
The Fort Lauderdale native originally started his collegiate career with Youngstown State. He transferred to Louisiana ahead of the 2022 season. Louisiana head coach Michael Desormeaux gave a glowing review of Martin's game ahead of the draft.
"I think Keyon has all the traits that you have to have to be a really effective corner, especially a smaller corner," Desormeaux said through a school video. "He's cat quick, he's very intelligent, he's physical, he's a guy who sees the whole game and he understands how all the pieces fit on defense."
Desormeaux added Martin showed a selfless side on the field, calling him "one of the more coachable guys there is" on the UL roster.
The Rams are in need of an extra CB. The team brought back Ahkello Witherspoon on a short term deal. Meanwhile, past starters Cobie Durant and Derion Kendrick are 2026 free agents. Martin could find room as a late round find or undrafted free agent invited to compete for a roster spot. Nevertheless, the Rams have Martin and his speed in mind during draft month.
