Rams Coach Sean McVay Issues Apology To Media

Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay cut his press conference short following Sunday night’s loss to the Denver Broncos.

“Sean McVay ducked out of his press conference before Rams media could get into it, only 10 minutes after the final whistle. Not sure I have ever seen that in this league before,” Rams reporter Nate Atkins shared on X, formerly known as Twitter.

McVay and the Rams took a lot of heat on social media for the press conference being cut short, while the team made it sound like reporters were late arriving.

But now, McVay has issued an apology.

McVay issued an apology to reporters on Monday.

“Sorry that I missed you guys yesterday,” McVay said, according Atkins. “There was a misunderstanding with some of the timing. […] I understand my role and responsibility is to talk, whether it’s after a win or if we don’t get the result we want.”

The Rams had defended the press conference timeline

Artis Twyman, the Rams’ VP of Communications, disputed what happened.

“Again Nathan, I will not let you get on here and not represent the truth,” Twyman wrote in response to one of Atkins’s social media posts. “[In] the press box, they announce that media that want to attend the post game news conference, leave at the five-minute mark. You chose to stay until the end of the game, which made you late.

“Coach was already in there waiting on you, and then he left as you were arriving,” Twyman wrote in a separate post. “Please, take some responsibility in the matter. How long should he have waited for you, sir?”

Ultimately, though, it sounds like McVay is sorry for what happened.
