Rams defense takes massive hit with Myles Garrett update

The Los Angeles Rams made the biggest move of the entire NFL offseason when they acquired superstar defensive end Myles Garrett from the Cleveland Browns.

The acquisition of Garrett made Los Angeles the unquestionable favorite to win the Super Bowl and almost certainly played a role in the decision for Aaron Donald to unretire and rejoin the team he spent his entire career with.

Garrett made his Rams debut in Week 1, and after an underwhelming performance, he'll now be out for quite some time with an injury announcement that was revealed Sunday.

Myles Garrett is headed to IR

According to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, Garrett is set to undergo arthroscopic surgery for a knee injury that has been bugging him since training camp.

The injury limited Garrett during training camp and preseason games, and now it feels that the injury also could've played a major role in his lackluster debut with his new team. The injury will keep Garrett out for quite some time. Because of that, he will be headed to the IR, meaning he'll miss at least the next four games.

Will this injury speed up the return process for Aaron Donald?

The return of Donald to the field after two years away is imminent. With the injury to Garrett, there is reason to wonder if that return process will be sped up.

Donald did not travel to Australia for Week 1, as he and the organization felt he was not yet ready for action. It is still unclear as to whether or not Donald will take the field in Week 2 on "Monday Night Football" against the New York Giants. He may need to, though, as the Rams will lose a hefty amount of pass rush if both Donald and Garrett are absent in Week 2.
