In the most American way possible, the Los Angeles Rams and the NFL tried their very darndest to pay respect to the Queen of United Kingdom, who died on Thursday at 96 years old.
The royal family announced Queen Elizabeth II's passing on Twitter as Los Angeles and the rest of the west coast was waking up in anticipation of the NFL's season-opening game between the Rams and Buffalo Bills.
There are a million words that can and will be written about Queen Elizabeth and her legacy and place in history, and every single one of those words will pale in comparison to anything written about Thursday Night's football game.
Football is, in fact, just a game. That's sometimes important to remember, and it was never more apparent than before the game when the Rams held a moment of silence in honor of the Queen.
The moment of silence went well, and kudos to the fans in LA for being respectful, but the ensuing hype-mania that followed it and the transition between the two moments was pure cringe.
AND NOW... LET'S LEVEL IT UP! IT'S SHOWTIME IN THE RAMS' HOUSE! pic.twitter.com/MjIwvX5Bfu

To be fair to the Rams and the NFL, there really was no non-cringy way to pull this off.
