Rams Get Promising Look at Braden Fiske After Offseason Knee Surgery

The Los Angeles Rams lost Braden Fiske during a critical moment. The prized interior defensive tackle left with a knee ailment against the Philadelphia Eagles, with a trip to the NFC title game on the line.

Fiske required surgery on that knee. But a new viral video released by the Rams shined a promising update on the defensive tackle.

The former Florida State Seminoles star is seen performing hop drills and other rehab work, including high knees. Signaling that he'll be ready for July training camp and the upcoming season. Fiske himself is in high spirits too, as he discussed his road back to recovery.

“Mentally, I’m in a really good spot,” Fiske said in the video. “I think early on in the offseason, it’s easy to dread on everything that’s going on. It’s easier to make excuses instead of solutions. It’s hard to feel like a football player when all you do is small movements. You’re just in there constantly doing the same thing but your body’s your temple in this game and I'm constantly just trying to improve my craft and get my body feeling good."

Fiske established himself as a force before leaving the Eagles game. He piled 44 tackles with 20 solo stops. Fiske also penetrated pass blocking sets to grab 8.5 sacks -- leading all interior DLs in that category. He produced two games of hitting two sacks against the Seattle Seahawks (Nov. 3 win) and Arizona Cardinals (Dec. 28 victory). He formed a stout tandem with fellow prized rookie Jared Verse.

"We didn't really have that option for the rookie wall people talk about," Fiske said. "Now going into year two, it gets a lot easier because I can go in with a fresh mind with OTAs and training camp. Really be able to step into a leadership role and build relations with my teammates."

He now has high expectations not for himself, but for the Rams.

"We're trying to lead this group to the Super Bowl. I think we've got the right pieces," Fiske said.
