When word surfaced this week that Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp suffered a setback in his return from a hamstring injury, it had to set off alarm bells for the team.
It has to be even more concerning given Saturday's news that he was in Minnesota to see a body specialist in order to try and better understand why he has had two hamstring pulls in the same summer.
#Rams star WR Cooper Kupp is in Minnesota today visiting with a noted body specialist to further understand his hamstring issue, sources say. With two pulls in one summer, the hope is to fully comprehend the root of the issue. Coach Sean McVay has described him as “day-to-day.”

The Rams continue to say that Kupp is considered "day-to-day," but when you are seeing a specialist one week before the start of the season that can not be a positive sign. Especially when considering that Kupp is dealing with something that could potentially linger for multiple weeks, and perhaps even the entire season, like a hamstring issue.
The star receiver missed nearly half of the 2022 season and his absence was a big reason the Rams went from a Super Bowl championship to a five-win season. Injuries to Kupp, starting quarterback Matthew Stafford and All-Pro defensive tackle Aaron Donald were just too much for the Rams to overcome.
Stafford and Donald seem ready to go for the start of the 2023 season, but Kupp would be a major loss if he is not there. The Rams' wide receiver depth chart is very thin when you get beyond Kupp and they do not really have anybody else on roster who has proven to be a go-to target in the passing game.
When healthy, Kupp is one of the best wide receivers in football, but at this point nobody knows when he will be on the field for the Rams or what he will look like upon his initial return. Not exactly an encouraging development eight days before opening kickoff.
