Rams Make $10 Million WR Move
Darren Yamashita-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Rams spent some money on Thursday, securing an extension for a player whose rookie contract was expiring.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported via X that the Rams and wide receiver Tutu Atwell agreed to a one-year contract worth $10 million. Atwell's agent Drew Rosenhaus and Robert Bailey negotiated the deal.

The Rams made the playoffs last season and reached the Divisional round before losing 28-22 to the Philadelphia Eagles. They won the NFC West for the 15th time in franchise history and are only behind the San Francisco 49ers (22) in division titles.

Atwell returns to the Rams for his fifth season with the team in 2025.

The Rams drafted Atwell in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft out of Louisville. He had 2,307 career receiving yards and 22 total touchdowns with Louisville from 2018-20.

Atwell has been a productive contribution to the Rams' receiver room. His first role with the team was as a kick return specialist in 2021. Unfortunately, he only played in eight games that season before suffering a season-ending shoulder injury in Week 8 against the Houston Texans.

However, Atwell bounced back the following season and caught 18 receptions for 298 receiving yards and one touchdown. He improved again in 2023, with 483 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

Atwell set another career high in 2024, finishing with 562 receiving yards and 62 receptions.

The former Louisville receiver's rookie contract with the Rams was from 2021-24 and was worth $5.9 million, per Spotrac. His new deal with the franchise includes a $5 million signing bonus with all $10 million guaranteed.

If Atwell does not re-sign with the Rams after his current deal expires, he will become an unrestricted free agent in 2026.
