The Los Angeles Rams announced a significant change on Tuesday, as wide receiver Puka Nacua will switch his jersey number from 17 to 12 for the upcoming 2025 season. The decision comes shortly after the Rams signed All-Pro wideout Davante Adams, who will now wear number 17, a number he has donned throughout his NFL career.

For Nacua, the switch to number 12 is deeply personal. The number holds a special meaning within his family, as it has been worn by his siblings during their athletic careers. Nacua himself wore number 12 during his standout college years at BYU, where he became a fan favorite for his electrifying performances. "The number 12 represents my family and the sacrifices they've made for me to be here," Nacua shared in a statement. "It's a piece of armor that reminds me of their support every time I step on the field."

Nacua's first two seasons in the NFL were nothing short of remarkable. Wearing number 17, he shattered rookie receiving records and earned All-Pro honors, solidifying his place as one of the league's brightest young stars. Despite the change, Nacua emphasized that his mindset and approach to the game remain unchanged.

The Rams' receiving corps is undergoing a transformation, with Adams joining the fold and longtime star Cooper Kupp expected to depart. As Nacua begins this new chapter with a familiar number, fans are eager to see how he continues to elevate his game and contribute to the Rams' pursuit of another championship.
