The Los Angeles Rams hit the jackpot with running back Kyren Williams.
He has developed into one of the best running backs in the NFL, and they want to keep him for the foreseeable future. On Tuesday, Rams head coach Sean McVay told the media that they are "making progress" on an extension for Williams.

Williams only rushed for 139 yards as a rookie in 2022 before taking off in 2023. He finished the 2023 season with 228 carries for 1,144 yards and 12 touchdowns.
He followed that season up with an even better one in 2024, finishing with 316 carries for 1,299 yards and 14 touchdowns. He has played in 38 games, compiling 579 carries for 2,582 yards and 26 touchdowns.
He is a big part of McVay's offense and will look to have an even better season this year. Williams helped the Rams get to the NFC divisional round of the playoffs last season before they lost to the Philadelphia Eagles.
Williams was originally a fifth-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft out of Notre Dame.
Assuming this extension gets finalized before training camp or the regular season, it would be another offseason win for the Rams after they agreed to a new deal with quarterback Matthew Stafford. Stafford has been with the Rams since 2021 and helped win Super Bowl LVI over the Cincinnati Bengals.
The Rams will open the 2025 regular season at home against the Houston Texans on September 7. Kickoff will be at 4:25 p.m. ET.
