The NFL world was stunned earlier this week when the Los Angeles Rams acquired Myles Garrett from the Browns for edge rusher Jared Verse, a 2027 first-round pick, a 2028 second-round pick, and a 2029 third-round pick.

The Rams, who were already considered Super Bowl contenders, saw their odds to be the last NFL team standing next February receive an immediate boost, and right now, they’re the prohibitive favorites to win it all.

According to NFL Insider Ian Rapoport, the Rams didn’t give Garrett a new contract, but instead, restructured his existing contract, keeping his average salary and term the same as it was in Cleveland.

“The Rams and star edge Myles Garrett did not agree on a new deal,” Rapoport reported on X, formerly known as Twitter. “Instead, they did rework his contract that pays him $204M over 5 years – essentially what he was making. The average per year and term remain the same as his deal was in Cleveland. The alteration allowed the Rams to onboard Myles and his record setting deal, moving the vesting date of his guarantees back a few months.”

Not only did Garrett recently set the NFL’s new single-sack record with 23, but he’s more focused than ever on delivering another Super Bowl win to Los Angeles.

“That’s always been my role since I’ve stepped foot into the NFL,” Garrett said via NFL.com. “So, nothing changes for me. I don’t feel any pressure to be anything else or be anything different. As long I’m myself and I come in here to work every day and I’m a leader, the success will follow.”
