The Los Angeles Rams will be without one of their offensive weapons during the Super Bowl.

Tyler Higbee missed practice on Thursday due to his knee injury. On Friday, the Rams placed the tight end on injured reserve.

Higbee hurt his knee during the Rams’ win over the 49ers in the NFC Championship Game. He had just two catches for 18 yards that game. But Higbee had 61 catches for 560 yards and five touchdowns during the regular season.

The 29-year-old became a bigger part of the Rams’ offense later in the season. He had more than 40 yards receiving in every game since December, with the exception of the Niners win in which he got hurt.

Kendall Blanton is expected to start at tight end for the Rams with Higbee out.

Even though Higbee is not as valuable of a part of the offense as Cooper Kupp or Odell Beckham Jr., he’s still been a consistent piece for the Rams. They would prefer to have their full roster available for the biggest game of the season, but that is not in the cards.
