The Los Angeles Rams blew out the Minnesota Vikings Monday night despite one of their key offensive contributors missing much of the game.

Veteran tight end Tyler Higbee played only 12 snaps in the 27-9 Wild Card win, and while he made the most of them, catching five passes for 58 yards, Higbee also suffered a concerning injury. The 32-year-old was taken to the hospital after leaving the game, with head coach Sean McVay telling reporters postgame that Higbee was "stable" and was dealing with something in his chest.

On Tuesday, McVay revealed that Higbee was hospitalized for spitting up blood, but the matter is not serious. Also, the ninth-year pro is expected to play against the Philadelphia Eagles this weekend.

"#Rams TE Tyler Higbee was spitting up a little blood last night and that’s why he was sent to the hospital, per Sean McVay, who said Higbee traveled home with the team and incredibly expects to play against the #Eagles this Sunday," NFL Network's Mike Garafolo tweeted.

Higbee missed the first 15 games of the regular season while recovering from a knee injury he suffered in the first round of the 2023 NFC playoffs.

Over the final three weeks of the year, he logged 13 catches for 124 yards and two touchdowns.

"It's been great having him back," McVay said Tuesday. "You felt his presence early. He was on pace to have a really big night, and he still made a huge contribution even just playing a quarter. I am hopeful and optimistic based on my dialogue with him that his expectations are he's going to be ready to roll against Philly."

The Rams will face the Eagles at 3 p.m. ET Sunday afternoon at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. The winner will take on the Detroit Lions or Washington Commanders in the NFC Championship Game.
