Rams' Puka Nacua addresses uncertainty about potential suspension

Under normal circumstances, Los Angeles Rams superstar Puka Nacua would be the highest-paid wide receiver in NFL history by now.

Instead, he has to wait. Not only for his new contract, but also to know whether he'll be able to play in all 17 games this season.

Nacua is dealing with a complicated situation off the field. He checked himself into rehabilitation before the Rams' offseason workouts. While he appears to be on track again, the league might still punish him for some of his actions. Considering that, the young star finally opened up about potentially facing a suspension.

Puka Nacua reacts to potentially being suspended 

“Just trying to handle that in the ways that I can and what’s in my control. But also, yeah, having a realistic understanding of the consequences of some of the things that I put myself in this offseason,” Nacua told the media. “But I feel like I’ve been able to feel grounded and feel present when I step out there on the football field.”

Nacua has also missed practice with an injury, though he's fully expected to suit up and play on Thursday night, barring a last-second suspension. The Rams are playing the waiting game with Nacua's situation. Even so, it's hard to envision a scenario where they don't give him a contract extension.

He's coming off an outstanding season, hauling in a league-leading 129 receptions on 166 targets for 1,715 yards and 10 touchdowns. More than that, his contributions as a sturdy and physical blocker are paramount to Sean McVay's offense.

The league has been coy about Nacua's situation, and that will likely remain the case until (if) more information comes to light. In the meantime, he can only focus on what he can control.
