The Los Angeles Rams seem to be in line for a big offseason, and it started with a blockbuster trade to acquire cornerback Trent McDuffie from the Kansas City Chiefs.

McDuffie helps address the Rams’ biggest need in the secondary, and now they can shift their focus to the rest of the roster as they have plenty of cap space and draft assets at their disposal to continue improving.

One other position the Rams want to address is tight end as Tyler Higbee was set to hit free agency. The 33-year-old has played 10 seasons in L.A. and had considered retirement going into the offseason.

It appears he is not ready to hang it up though as the Rams are re-signing Higbee to a two-year contract, per NFL insider Jordan Schultz:

Higbee is the longest tenured member of the Rams as they drafted him in the fourth round in 2016 out of Western Kentucky. His rookie year was the organization’s first in Los Angeles.

In 138 career games for the Rams, Higbee has 386 receptions for 3,949 yards and 27 touchdowns while being an exceptional blocker. The 33-year-old missed some time in 2025 but still played 10 games and finished with 25 catches for 281 yards and three touchdowns in the regular season.

It’s no secret that the Rams increased their tight end usage in 2025 as they ran a lot of sets with three of them on the field at once. Because of the team’s depth at the position, they were able to do that and find mismatches all over the field.

The same will likely be the case in 2026 with Higbee now returning, joining a tight end room that also includes Colby Parkinson, Terrance Ferguson and Davis Allen. Parkinson is coming off a career year and Ferguson showed plenty of flashes during his rookie season, making that a really quality group to run back this upcoming season with Higbee leading the way.

Rams tackle Rob Havenstein retires

Higbee is the longest tenured member of the Rams because earlier this offseason, right tackle Rob Havenstein decided to call it a career after 11 seasons.

Unlike Higbee, who wants to keep playing, Havenstein had enough and decided to call it a career at age 33.
