Although the initial wave of free agency is finally over, the Los Angeles Rams still have a lot of work to do to prepare for the upcoming 2024 season.

Los Angeles was busy during free agency, signing players like Jonah Jackson, Kamren Curl and Tre’Davious White to bolster the roster on both sides. Although the loss of Aaron Donald will greatly affect the defense, the Rams will have several opportunities to make up for his loss in the 2024 NFL Draft as they currently have 11 picks at their disposal.

L.A. nailed their draft class last year, and another strong group of players can vault them into contention. The Rams are hoping to build on the momentum they built in 2023, a season that most considered a wash because of their young and inexperienced roster.

Before the draft begins, though, players can begin reporting for voluntary workouts and meetings. The spring program is slated to begin on April 15, which means the Rams can meet at the team facility for meetings, strength and conditioning and on-field work, though no team drills or practices will be held.

After the draft will mark the beginning of OTAs which are set to begin on May 20. OTAs will continue on May 21, May 23, May 28-29, May 31, and conclude from June 3-6. Los Angeles will get a few days off before players report for mandatory minicamp from June 10-12.

With so many young players and another sizable draft class projected to join the team, OTAs and minicamp will be an excellent opportunity for them to get acclimated and learn the playbook before training camp begins later in the summer. Head coach Sean McVay and the rest of his coaching staff used their time wisely last year, and will put a lot of emphasis on getting their work done early.

The offseason schedule also gives coordinators like Chris Shula a chance to start implementing their schemes and build the foundation for how they want to play.

Texans to host Rams for joint practice sessions

Aside from the early part of the offseason program, there are already reports about the Rams’ training camp schedule. Every year, NFL teams are allowed to host joint practices against other teams and this year it appears the Houston Texans will host Los Angeles for a series of practices.

Joint practices give players the chance to compete against their peers and give them a more realistic look at how teams will play them during the regular season.
