Pena is the current UFC Women's Bantamweight Champion, after defeating Amanda Nunes at UFC 269 in December 2021. Both head coach Sean McVay and quarterback Matthew Stafford helped the Los Angeles Rams win Super Bowl LVI in February.
Boston was named the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Tournament's Most Outstanding Player in early April and led South Carolina to the title over UConn. One week following the Gamecocks' victory, Scottie Scheffler captured the green jacket in men's golf, earning his first major win at the Masters.
