Rams TE Tyler Higbee suffered sprained MCL, might miss Super Bowl LVI

Los Angeles Rams tight end Tyler Higbee suffered a knee injury early in the NFC Championship Game, and although he was fortunate to avoid significant damage, his status for Super Bowl LVI is still in doubt after an MRI showed he has a sprained MCL.

"He's such a tough guy," Rams coach Sean McVay said of Higbee in a press conference Monday, via the Associated Press. "We're going to do everything we can to get this guy ready to go."

Higbee, 29, has been a reliable target for Matthew Stafford, finishing the regular season with 61 receptions for 560 yards and five touchdowns. Cooper Kupp is the only Rams player who finished the year with more receptions. With Higbee out of action for most of the NFC Championship Game, the Rams instead relied on Kendall Blanton at tight end, and he had a career day with five receptions for 57 yards.

Los Angeles also got some good injury news Monday. McVay revealed safety Taylor Rapp is "turning the corner in a positive way" after missing the Rams' first three playoff games. With Rapp out of action, the Rams pulled Eric Weddle out of retirement.
