Rams vs Bears Prediction: Can Chicago Play a Full 60 Minutes?
© Mike Dinovo-Imagn Images

There is nothing more fun in sports right now than the Chicago Bears down by one score with three minutes left to play.

Caleb Williams has turned into the most clutch player in the game, the team has a way of pulling the tightest games out of the fire, and ...

The Los Angeles Rams aren't the Green Bay Packers. It should take a full 60 minutes to get by this bunch.

NFC Divisional Playoff Preview: Rams vs Bears

New England might have something to say about it after Drake Maye's amazing year, and Josh Allen is the best player in the NFL, but the Rams have the MVP in Matthew Stafford.

He's been unflappable, the Ram offense is loaded, and the defense has a way of doing just enough in key situations to get by. The 34-31 Wild Card win over Carolina didn't exactly represent the team's best work, but it was an NFL Playoff road win. Nothing else matters.

Win this, hope for San Francisco to beat Seattle, and host the NFC Championship - but first, the Rams have to survive the last few minutes.

Why Los Angeles Will Win

Kyler Gordon.

The very, very good Chicago Bears corner was out there against the Packers, but he still wasn't back to his 100% healthy self, and Jordan Love went after him over, and over, and over again.

It all ended up working out, but Love and the Green Bay offense ended up throwing for 322 yards, and there but for a few strange late mistakes - and a key ten-second run-off on an injury - this would've been a home game for the Rams.

Matthew Stafford's main job is to not throw into harm's way. The Bears are great at forcing takeaways, and they make up for most of their other defensive problems with takeaways - 33 on the year - and Stafford has to take what he's given.

Gordon should be able to hold his own, but the Ram receivers are deep, talented, and they should be on right away.

Green Bay owned the first half against the Bear defense, and if Stafford can do the same thing, he and the Rams have the running game to close this out in the second half. However ...

About 15 degrees.

There's not supposed to be enough wind to matter, but it's Chicago, and the game is being played right off Lake Michigan - the wind will always matter.

Of course, Matthew Stafford and Davante Adams are used to playing in cold weather games, but these are still the Los Angeles Rams. It's supposed to be 79 in LA on Sunday, and more than 60 degrees colder than that in Chicago on Sunday.

The pros can get through everything, but yeah, it does matter. And then there's the real thing about this game that should make a difference ...

The Rams aren't playing that well.

The defense couldn't hold off the Seattle offense in an overtime loss, and that came after a tight shootout against Detroit. The run defense didn't show up against Seattle, and no, the rocky performance against Carolina might not be an aberration.

The assumption is that the machine will turn back on. After all, the offense is amazing, the team is loaded with veterans, and ... other than the win over a meh Panther team in the Wild Card round, the last win over a playoff team was two months ago.

You have to be able to score to beat the Rams, but ...

Rams vs Bears Prediction, Betting Lines

The Bears can't wait until the last several moments, like they're used to doing.

That's not to say that they couldn't come back late on the Rams, but that's playing with fire with a team that has this much talent and so many options.

Can Caleb Williams hit his passes?

As amazing as he is late, he's too erratic, the passing game is only hitting 58% on the year, and Los Angeles is 7-0 when the defense keeps opposing quarterbacks to under 64%.

Williams has only been able to get to the mark twice all season. But there's one other key piece to this.

Chicago usually wins when it runs a lot. It's 8-1 when running 28 times, and ...

Stafford will be too accurate and too good. Chicago's late heroics won't work this time around.
