The Minnesota Vikings will have their rookies report to training camp on Sunday, July 20th. The beginning of the 2025 season is starting to feel more real everyday.
We are firmly in the likely rostered players of our countdown with some surprises, including one hyper athletic draft pick who could be a major factor on defense as a rookie.
The cornerback room is deep with bodies, but completely uncertain after Byron Murphy Jr. One of the interesting spots is at slot cornerback. Brian Flores likes to kick Murphy inside, which makes their need of a slot cornerback a little bit less valuable.
Where Thomas has his biggest value to the Vikings is as a special teamer. The Vikings could use a couple of solid special teamers on the team, especially with NaJee Thompson and Trent Sherfield no longer on the team. He isn't going to be someone that makes an impact on defense, but special teams for sure.
The Vikings have an interesting group of linebackers after Blake Cashman and Ivan Pace Jr. Eric Wilson is going to be the main backup, but the Vikings are high on their first sixth-round pick King. He's got an interesting profile to develop, especially on early downs. He's a downhill thumper who thrives against the run, but leaves a little to be desired when it comes to coverage. If he can grow in that area, King can be a valuable asset on defense. For now, he's primed to be a solid special teams player.
One thing that I like about Kobe King (#41) is his ability to play sideline to sideline. Of course being a willing hitter doesn't hurt either. pic.twitter.com/zdHlV8lVfl

In a normal year, Moore would be higher on the list because of his electric ability with the ball in his hands. Unfortunately, Moore suffered a brutal knee injury in training camp with the Atlanta Falcons last year and that has prevented him from practicing as of yet. It's not known when Moore will make his debut on the practice field, but if he's healthy, Moore could be a valuable asset for the Vikings on offense with manufactured touches and the punt return game.
If you've never heard of Jones, I wouldn't be surprised. He spent the last three seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars as a depth receiver, but his main ability was on special teams. See the theme with this group? Essentially, Jones is the Sherfield replacement. That's a valuable asset for the Vikings going into the season.
The Vikings have multiple roster moves this offseason on the defensive line. One of the trends that the Vikings have seen over the last few months has been their additions on the defensive line. Ingram-Dawkins was the first of the trend: straight-line explosive in a tall, yet undersized frame.
How the Vikings use him this year will be a fascinating development, as he's a talented player. However, his best usage is likely as a 3T/4i. The big question here is simple: will Ingram-Dawkins be able to handle the power on the interior as a rookie? Long-term, it's likely not going to be an issue, but handling that kind of power early on could be one.
