Ranking Every Rams Rookie Heading Into the Preseason

It’s going to be difficult for Keenan to make much of an impact as a rookie. The Rams have Poona Ford and Ty Davis ahead of him on the depth chart. That doesn’t mention that Aaron Donald could be returning. Keenan should see plenty of work during the preseason. 

4. TE Max Klare

With Davis Allen out with an injury, some opportunities have opened up for Klare. The preseason will be big for Klare. It’s unlikely that the Rams will play Colby Parkinson, Terrance Ferguson, or Tyler Higbee. Given Allen’s injury, Klare will get plenty of looks early in games. The preseason will be a great chance for Klare to get experience. 

3. OL Keagen Trost

Trost is one of the more intriguing players to watch as the Rams head into the preseason. Justin Dedich hurt his hand earlier this offseason, leaving Trost as the ‘sixth man’ on the offensive line. There hasn’t been a lot said about Trost and it hasn’t been clear if the Rams have been playing him at just one position or cross-training him at guard and tackle. Trost should get plenty of work over the next month, and if he plays well, the Rams can feel good about him as depth. 

2. QB Ty Simpson

Head coach Sean McVay provided some clarity on how the Rams will handle the quarterback position during the preseason. While it’s unclear if Bennett will play, Simpson will certainly play. With Simpson, it’s only a matter of whether he plays the entire game like Bennett has done in the past or only part of the game. The preseason will be big for Simpson, as it’s a chance to apply what he’s learned during practices in a live-game setting. 

1. WR CJ Daniels

After a strong training camp, fans will undoubtedly be excited to see what wide receiver CJ Daniels does during the preseason. It wouldn’t be surprising to see Daniels be a favorite target for whichever quarterback is on the field. If Daniels carries what he’s done during training camp into the preseason, his case to be in the WR3 rotation will only grow stronger.
