Ranking QBs the Chiefs will play in 2025: Kansas City will face yet another new signal caller for AFC West rival

We're on to the No. 11 ranked quarterback that the Chiefs will face in 2025.

While there was a cloud of mystery surrounding No. 12 on our list, this one is an 11-year NFL veteran. Kansas City will play him twice next season after only facing him once before. Let's take a look. . .

No. 11: Las Vegas Raiders QB Geno Smith

Smith will be the eighth different QB to start for the Raiders since the beginning of the 2022 season. However, he may be the most credible one they've had since Derek Carr.

Selected by the Jets in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft, Smith was a late bloomer. After having very little success in New York, Smith took backup roles with the New York Giants and Los Angeles Chargers.

He seemed destined to finish out his career as a backup, but got another opportunity as a starter in 2021 with Seattle when Russell Wilson went down with an injury. Smith played well in Wilson's absence, and took over as the Seahawks' franchise QB in 2022 after they traded Wilson.

Smith was named Comeback Player of the Year that season, throwing for 4,282 yards and 30 touchdowns, also adding 366 rushing yards and one rushing TD. In 2024 Smith finished third among all QBs in passing yards with 4,320, and completed a career-high 70.4 percent of his passes.

So why does Smith come in at 11th on our rankings? Besides the Chiefs facing an absolute gauntlet of QBs in 2025, Smith landed low mostly because he's not much of a winner. He has a career 40-43 record as a starter, and was just four games over .500 (29-25) with Seattle despite playing his best ball. Smith also has never won a playoff game.

Smith has a bit of an issue with turnovers as well, throwing a career-high 15 interceptions last season and 36 overall during his Seahawks tenure. K.C. will host the Raiders in Week 7, then travel to Las Vegas for the Week 18 regular season finale.
