Free agency reshapes the NFL landscape in massive ways from year to year, and it also has a major impact on how fantasy football picks are valued. Even though player movement is a month away from kicking off, we'll take a look at all of the noteworthy impending free agents through the lens of potential fantasy football value.
Note: More free agents will become available as teams look to clear salaries and the 2026 NFL Draft makes players expendable. Only fantasy-relevant names are included, and this list is subject to change as players re-sign and teams use tags to retain them. All free-agent data comes from Spotrac.
Arguably the most volatile fantasy position in relation to the effects of player movement, this year's class is strong and provides depth, ranging from franchise-changing running backs to those occupying compartmentalized but useful fantasy roles.
The top backs are Breece Hall, whose versatility will endear him to multiple teams employing an array of systems, and Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III broke out at the right time for a huge payday.
Travis Etienne opportunistically rebounded, and the same can be said for Javonte Williams. One of the most intriguing free agents is Tyler Allgeier, still just 25 years old. He has some experience as a starter, and the BYU product has demonstrated his fantasy chops as a sidekick to Bijan Robinson in recent seasons.
The trio of Rachaad White, Rico Dowdle, and Kenneth Gainwell all may garner interest as an RB1 or at least the 1a role in a tandem backfield. Of the three, Dowdle has the best odds of being a weekly fantasy contributor, and White's receiving skills could make him a PPR asset even if he only serves as a third-down back with his '26 team.
The third tier of backs should find themselves on NFL rosters in 2026 but will be little more than fantasy fliers or waiver additions without unexpected roles going their way. Among them, Brian Robinson is the most appealing option, but he's a one-dimensional guy who will be dependent on finding the end zone to consistently matter.
While restricted free agents tend to stay put, perhaps an interested team is willing to spend up for the likes of Sean Tucker or Keaton Mitchell to boost their value.
