Rashid Shaheed Speaks on Seahawks Future

The Seattle Seahawks acquired wide receiver Rashid Shaheed at the 2025 trade deadline, and the former undrafted free agent may turn out to be more than just a rental. The overlooked Weber State product entered the league in 2022 and quickly established himself as one of the game’s better returners and a reliable deep threat during his first four seasons with the Saints. While his receiving production went down in Seattle, he played a pivotal part in helping the Seahawks win their second championship.

Now set to test the open market, Rashid Shaheed recently spoke out about his future with the Seahawks. Via Eric Edholm of NFL.com, the wide receiver wants to “run it back” with Seattle but acknowledges contract talks are still ongoing.

“Conversations are definitely going to be heating up towards March,” Shaheed said. “But you know, I would love to come back. I loved my experience here, I’m loving the Pacific Northwest, and obviously the organization is second to none.”

Rashid Shaheed Wants to Stay With Seahawks, Feeling Might Not Be Mutual

Rashid Shaheed likes the Seahawks, and the team would probably welcome him back at the right price. However, there is a good chance he receives a better offer elsewhere. While Shaheed brought plenty of value as a returner, Seattle did not utilize his pass-catching abilities.

Reliable deep threats are hard to come by, and Shaheed knows how to make plays downfield. While nobody will confuse him with Randy Moss, the wideout had 44 receptions for 499 yards and two touchdowns in his nine games with New Orleans last year. Don’t be surprised if one of the following teams pursues his services and steals him from the Seahawks.

Possible Suitors

Las Vegas Raiders

New head coach Klint Kubiak coached Shaheed in New Orleans and Seattle, so it only makes sense for the duo to reunite in the desert. The Raiders have a long way to go before they’re ready to seriously compete for a title, but the pieces are in place for a quick turnaround. Presumptive first-overall pick Fernando Mendoza will provide stability to the game’s most important position, and having a reliable deep threat like Shaheed on the roster will go a long way in helping him develop.

New England Patriots

The New England Patriots made it to the Super Bowl one year after going 4-13. While the big game didn’t go the way they wanted, it’s clear this team is well ahead of schedule in their rebuild. Drake Maye throws one of the prettiest deep balls in football, and now it’s time for New England to acquire someone who can consistently create opportunities downfield. Mack Hollins and rookie Kyle Williams had their moments last year, but Shaheed will provide more stability and consistency to the deep passing game.

Kansas City Chiefs

It’s too early to completely give up on first-round pick Xavier Worthy, but it’s starting to look like the wide receiver is a bust. While he belongs on an NFL roster, he has yet to prove himself as a starting-caliber wide receiver. Rashee Rice can get open in the short and intermediate part of the field, but Rashid Shaheed would be the team’s best deep threat since the Tyreek Hill days.
