Ravens All-Pro CB Marlon Humphrey off COVID-19 list, can face Patriots

The Baltimore Ravens provided fans with some positive news amid a potential injury crisis affecting the secondary.

On Wednesday morning, Baltimore officially activated All-Pro cornerback Marlon Humphrey off the reserve/COVID-19 list. It's believed he'll be good to go for this weekend's "Sunday Night Football" showdown with the New England Patriots.

As Jamison Hensley explained for ESPN, Humphrey announced that he tested positive for the coronavirus on Nov. 2, one day after Baltimore suffered a divisional loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The 24-year-old missed last Sunday's 24-10 win over the Indianapolis Colts while isolating away from team activities.

While New England quarterback Cam Newton hasn't yet found his MVP form during his first season with the Patriots, Humphrey's return to the Baltimore lineup nevertheless comes at an ideal time. Khalil Dorsey (dislocated shoulder) recently became the team's fourth cornerback to go on injured reserve along with Anthony Averett (shoulder), Tavon Young (knee) and Iman Marshall (knee). Young and Marshall are out for the campaign, but the Ravens hope Dorsey and Averett will play again this year.

Because of deficiencies in the secondary, Baltimore signed veteran free-agent defensive back Tramon Williams on Tuesday.

Humphrey has an interception, four forced fumbles and 40 total tackles on the season.
