When the Baltimore Ravens signed Derrick Henry in free agency last offseason, many thought that they would have the best running back room in the NFL with him and Justice Hill.
And those people were correct.
The team led the NFL in rushing yards, thanks in no small part to the play of Henry and Lamar Jackson. But in a recent article by The Draft Network's Justin Melo, he proposes that the Ravens should trade for another running back.
That back is Jacksonville Jaguars star Travis Etienne Jr.
"Henry has never been a natural pass-catcher and the Ravens lack ideal depth behind him," Melo wrote. "Justice Hill rushed for just 228 yards in 2024. Keaton Mitchell came back from a 2023 torn ACL last season, but failed to showcase any returning juice. The jury is still out on Rasheen Ali, who hasn't established himself as a legit NFLer yet. Etienne would immediately seize the No. 2 role behind Henry."
Even though Etienne is listed as the Jags' starting running back, Tang Bigsby had more rushing attempts than him, so the former first-round pick could be on the outs in Jacksonville.
As fun as it would be to see Etienne and Henry in the same backfield, the Ravens might not need him. Henry provided the rushing attack for Baltimore, and Hill was the pass-catcher of the two, finishing the season with just under 400 yards through the air.
With all of that being said, Henry is 31 years old, and he is not getting any younger, so trading for a younger guy like Etienne could be an investment for the future for the team to think about.
