Ravens Could Trade Free Agent Signing Before Season

The Baltimore Ravens signed cornerback Chidobe Awuzie in late March, but they could trade him before he ever suits up for the team. A second-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, the Colorado product spent his early years with the Dallas Cowboys before signing a massive deal with the Tennessee Titans in 2024. While he didn’t play up to his three-year, $60 million price tag, he still recorded one interception, four passes defended, and a respectable 64.4 PFF grade. Following his release from the Titans, the Ravens signed him to be their third cornerback.

However, this happened before the Green Bay Packers released Jaire Alexander. Now that he’s on the Ravens and accompanied by Marlon Humphrey and former first-round pick Nate Wiggins, Awuzie won’t be anything more than the CB4 on this roster, barring injury. While keeping him won’t be cost-prohibitive for the team, Baltimore would probably entertain a Chidobe Awuzie trade for the right price. In no particular order, the following four teams could use another cornerback.

Ravens Could Trade Chidobe Awuzie After Jaire Alexander Signing

Top Fits

Carolina Panthers

The Carolina Panthers had the NFL’s worst defense last year and have done everything in their power to fix the unit. After re-signing Jaycee Horn and Mike Jackson, the team brought in safety Tre’Von Moehrig, defensive tackle Tershawn Wharton, and selected edge defenders Nic Scourton and Princely Umanmielen in the second and third rounds of the 2025 NFL Draft. While the unit should be respectable this year, they could still use another cornerback. After striking out on Alexander, a Chidobe Awuzie trade could provide this team with a much-needed third cornerback in the secondary.

Los Angeles Rams

The Los Angeles Rams want to trade for Jalen Ramsey, but Chidobe Awuzie wouldn’t be a bad consolation prize. Matthew Stafford isn’t getting any younger, and this team must go all-in on the final years of his playing career. The Rams have a talented roster with the offense to go blow-for-blow with anyone, but they must improve the secondary to slow down opposing offenses.

Los Angeles Chargers

Head coach Jim Harbaugh and quarterback Justin Herbert guided a flawed team to the playoffs last year, and now they should have their eyes on a championship. While the team should have a great offense and dominate the trenches, someone must support Tarheeb Still in the secondary. Sharing a division with Kansas City and a conference with the Bills, Ravens, and Bengals means cornerbacks are a premium position, and a Chidobe Awuzie trade could help this team shore up one of their biggest weaknesses.

New York Jets

The New York Jets are all-in with first-year head coach Aaron Glenn and new quarterback Justin Fields leading the charge. While the team hasn’t made the playoffs since the 2010 campaign, they have the talent to earn a Wild Card spot. However, while Sauce Gardner is a true lockdown cornerback, Brandon Stephens is not. Chidobe Awuzie might not be an All-Pro type of player, but he can be an adequate CB2 for a team looking to finally make some noise in their division.
