Ravens Give Lamar Jackson Update Following Week 4 Exit

Despite a 24-18 victory over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, the Baltimore Ravens once again saw their Pro Bowl quarterback go down with an injury.

In the final seconds of the first half, Lamar Jackson suffered an ankle injury, and the two-time MVP was ruled out for the rest of the game and replaced by Tyler Huntley. Baltimore also did not score in the second half.

This was an all-too-familiar sight for the Ravens and their fans, as their star quarterback once again suffered what appeared to be a serious injury.

Speaking to reporters on Monday, Ravens head coach Jesse Minter did not seem too concerned about the possible extent of Jackson’s injury, but did not offer a definitive answer on whether the starting quarterback will suit up in Baltimore’s Week 5 match against the Atlanta Falcons.

“I don’t know the chances yet,” Minter said. “We’re still gathering a lot of the information, imaging, things like that. Just dealing with a little bit of an ankle. We’ll kind of see where that shakes out.”

Over the last couple of seasons, injuries have plagued Jackson and, in most cases, derailed the Ravens’ seasons. The 29-year-old missed four games last year with hamstring and back injuries, which led to a 1-5 start for Baltimore, who ultimately missed the playoffs.

Jackson also suffered a sprained PCL during the 2022 season, missing the final five games of the regular season, resulting in the Ravens losing in their AFC Wild Card matchup to the Cincinnati Bengals.

He also missed the final four games of the 2021 campaign with an ankle injury, which led to the Ravens losing their final four games of the season, missing the postseason, despite an 8-3 start.

So it’s safe to say the Ravens need Jackson under center if they want to reach the postseason and go on a deep run in pursuit of their first Super Bowl title since 2012-2013.

For now, though, it looks like the aforementioned Huntley will at least start this coming week when the Ravens head to Atlanta to take on the Falcons.
