Ravens HC John Harbaugh: QB Lamar Jackson 'day-to-day' with sprained ankle

Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said Monday he was planning to have Lamar Jackson start at quarterback for this Sunday's game against the Green Bay Packers after the quarterback suffered a sprained right ankle during this past Sunday's loss to the Cleveland Browns.

Harbaugh sounded a little less optimistic as Jackson missed Wednesday's practice due to the setback.

"It's day-to-day right now," Harbaugh said of Jackson's injury, per Jamison Hensley of ESPN. "We got to see how it responds."

Backup Tyler Huntley replaced Jackson in Cleveland and completed 27-of-38 pass attempts for 270 yards and a touchdown but came up just shy of leading the Ravens on a come-from-behind victory. Huntley would start against Green Bay if Jackson can't go, and Baltimore signed veteran Josh Johnson off the practice squad of the New York Jets just in case the 2019 NFL Most Valuable Player is sidelined through the weekend.

"[Huntley's] going to get the reps today. That's what we know right now," Harbaugh added during his comments before Wednesday's practice. "So him getting the reps today, if he has to play on Sunday, will be a benefit. We'll see where it goes from there. He may play or he may not be playing, depending on Lamar's situation."

The 8-5 Ravens lead the Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Bengals, both 7-6, in the AFC North standings by one game. The 6-6-1 Pittsburgh Steelers enter the weekend as the division's last-place club.
