Ravens host former No. 1 overall pick

The Ravens are continuing their search for another edge-rusher and now they're showing interest in a former No. 1 overall pick.

According to reports, Baltimore hosted DE Jadeveon Clowney, the first pick of the 2014 NFL Draft, on Tuesday.

The visit comes shortly after Justin Houston, who'd spent the last two seasons with the Ravens, agreed to sign with the Panthers after many believed he would return to Baltimore in 2023.

BaltimoreRavens.com writer Clifton Brown said edge-rusher Justin Houston will "be back in Baltimore" by the start of the 2023 season in July.

However, now that it is no longer possible, the Ravens have turned their interests to arguably the biggest name left in free agency.

Clowney spent the last two seasons with the Browns, who he would get to face twice a year if he were to sign with Baltimore, where he had 65 tackles, 11 sacks and three forced fumbles.

Although he has never been able to live up to the expectations that come with being the No. 1 overall pick, the Ravens don't need him to be the guy on their defense. The 30-year-old would only need to come in as a rotational depth piece and step in if any player were to get injured or underperform.

Baltimore also has just under $10M in cap space. So, with money not being an issue, it certainly feels like a low-risk, high-reward type of signing.
