Ravens host three veteran RBs to help replace J.K. Dobbins

The Ravens lost running back J.K. Dobbins for the season after tearing his Achilles in Week 1, but his potential replacement is visiting Wednesday.

Baltimore is working out veteran running backs Kenyan Drake, Ronald Jones and James Robinson.

Drake spent the 2022 season with the Ravens, rushing for 482 yards and four touchdowns in 12 games. The 29-year-old signed with the Colts in August but may just land back in Baltimore with the familiarity on both sides.

Jones has underwhelmed since being drafted in the second round by the Buccaneers in 2018. The 26-year-old rushed for just 70 yards and a touchdown with the Chiefs a season ago.

Robinson has been searching for his mojo from the 2020 season when he broke out as an undrafted rookie, rushing for 1,070 yards and seven touchdowns. The 25-year-old has had less yardage every season since and had just 85 yards and zero touchdowns for the Jets in 2022.

All three backs would be solid depth additions to the Ravens' running back room, but none push the needle.

Running backs Gus Edwards and Justice Hill filled in nicely for Dobbins in Week 2, rushing for a combined 103 yards and one touchdown. They would likely still lead the backfield if any of the three veterans were to be signed.

This is especially true because head coach John Harbaugh already said he already likes the players the Ravens have on their roster, even naming RB Melvin Gordon, who is currently on the practice squad.

"We're good, like the guys we have. Melvin Gordon is here for a reason. He's a proven back and I'm very very glad he's here," Harbaugh said.
