Ravens' John Harbaugh ribs Rex Ryan over 'The Amazing Race': 'I think he'll get lost'

Many within the football community were surprised to learn Wednesday that former NFL head coach and current ESPN analyst Rex Ryan will be competing in season 34 of CBS' "The Amazing Race" reality television competition this fall.

Before Ryan guided the New York Jets to a pair of AFC championship defeats, he served as defensive coordinator under current Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh.

Harbaugh has serious matters, such as the future of his starting quarterback, on his mind this summer but nevertheless was able to poke some fun at Ryan while speaking with reporters on Thursday.

"I think he'll get lost — right out of the gates," Harbaugh said of the 59-year-old's chances of winning "The Amazing Race," per Brandon Weigel of CBS News Baltimore.

According to TMZ Sports, Harbaugh added he thinks Ryan's teammate will have to carry the former coach to victory. Tim Mann, a 40-year-old probation officer who has become golfing buddies with Ryan, is the other half of what's being referred to as "Team T-Rex."

"It depends on his partner, actually," Harbaugh explained while laughing. "It depends if Rex wants to listen or not. You can't blitz your way out of an airport, or something like that."

The upcoming edition of "The Amazing Race" will debut on Sept. 21 at 10 p.m. ET on CBS.
