The Baltimore Ravens are 1-2, but it's not because of two-time MVP Lamar Jackson. The 28-year-old the NFL with nine touchdown passes against no interceptions and is third with a 78.2 quarterback rating.
Defense is the Ravens' issue, as they're second-worst in football with 32 points allowed per game. They allowed a combined 79 points in their two losses, falling to the Buffalo Bills 41-40 in Week 1 and the Detroit Lions 38-30 in Week 3.
Up next for Baltimore is a road matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs, who are also 1-2. Both squads are AFC heavyweights, as the Ravens have made the Divisional Round in four of the last seven seasons, while the Chiefs have made the Super Bowl appearances three straight times and in four of the last five years.
Jackson warned his opponents on Wednesday via the Ravens' social media.
"Each and every week, I'm gonna be motivated no matter who the opponent is," he said. "No matter where it is, I'm just trying to win. I'm already motivated."
Kansas City beat Baltimore 17-10 in the 2023 AFC Championship, which was the closest that Jackson has gotten to the Super Bowl. The speedster won his second MVP award that season.

If Jackson continues his current pace, he'll be hard to beat in the MVP race. The 6-foot-2, 205-pounder ranks third in the NFL among quarterbacks who have started all three games with a 72 percent completion rate and first with 9.6 yards per attempt. Additionally, he has 118 rushing yards on 15 carries (7.9 yards per attempt) and another score.
However, Baltimore will struggle if its defense doesn't help Jackson. The club tops the NFL with 37 points scored per game, so the offense can't do much more than it already is.
After the Chiefs, the Ravens will face the Houston Texans, who rank last with 12.7 points per contest. Past that, though, they'll play the Los Angeles Rams (No. 11, 24.3 points) and the Chicago Bears (No. 8, 25.3 points). At some point, Baltimore will have to get stops against high-powered offenses.
Another issue is Derrick Henry's fumbles. The four-time All-Pro running back has fumbled in all three games, which were pivotal in Baltimore's two losses. He's one of the most talented players in football, but he can't give the ball away consistently if he wants to make another playoff run.
Sunday's game will start at 4:25 p.m. ET on CBS.
