Ravens Make Historic Contract Decision On Derrick Henry

The Baltimore Ravens bolstered their rushing attack last offseason by signing All-Pro tailback Derrick Henry to a two-year, $16 million contract. Suffice to say, that was a smart move by general manager Eric DeCosta.

In his first season in Baltimore, Henry ran for 1,921 yards and 16 touchdowns. He played a huge role in the Ravens winning the AFC North and advancing to the divisional round of the playoffs.

Although the Ravens already had Henry under contract for the 2025 season, the front office has decided to negotiate a new deal with him.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Ravens have rewarded Henry with a contract extension worth $30 million. It's actually a historic deal for the 31-year-old running back.

"Derrick Henry and the Baltimore Ravens reached agreement today on a two-year, $30 million extension that includes $25 million fully guaranteed over the next two seasons, per Todd France of Athletes First. It is the largest deal in NFL history for a running back over 30 years old," Schefter said.

After the Ravens' 2024 season came to an end, DeCosta raved about Henry's leadership and production.

"I think he proved he had a lot left in the tank," DeCosta said, via NFL.com. "I'm just so grateful that Derrick chose us last year. ... I can honestly say, his attitude and the way that he played was amazing to watch. His relationship with his teammates, his humility as a player, his work ethic ... can't wait to see it next year."

There's no doubt Henry will be a focal point of Baltimore's offense this fall.

Congratulations to Henry on receiving a well-deserved raise from the Ravens.
