The Baltimore Ravens secured an NFL first after beating the Cleveland Browns on Saturday, and they quickly let everyone know about it.
Baltimore blew out Cleveland, 35-10, in the contest, with Lamar Jackson's historic performance taking the spotlight. The Ravens' dual-threat quarterback completed 16 of his 32 passes for 217 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed nine times for 63 yards.
That means Jackson finishes the season with 4,172 passing yards and 915 rushing yards, becoming the first NFL QB ever to have at least 4,000 passing yards and 800 rushing yards in a season. He's also the first Ravens player to surpass 5,000 total yards in a season.
Derrick Henry also had a sensational showing, as he finished with 20 carries for 138 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. With that, he set the franchise record for most rushing touchdowns in a single season with 16.
However, those are not the only records that the Ravens made. As a team, they now finish the campaign with 4,189 passing yards and 3,189 rushing yards, becoming the first team in NFL history to breach the 4,000 passing and 3,000 rushing yards mark.
"HISTORY," the Ravens posted on social media along with an image highlighting their accomplishment.
The Ravens certainly deserve recognition. After a big year in 2023 that saw them make it all the way to the AFC Championship game before losing to the Kansas City Chiefs, they returned as a better and more dangerous team this season.
Baltimore has established itself as a legitimate playoff and Super Bowl contender, and the numbers they recorded speak for themselves.
