Ravens Make Quarterback Move Amid Lamar Jackson Injury

The Baltimore Ravens are off to one of the worst starts in franchise history and are hoping to avoid a 1-5 start to the 2025 campaign with a massive showdown against the Los Angeles Rams looming on Sunday, Oct. 12.

Last weekend the Ravens fell to 1-4 on the season with an ugly 44-10 loss where the Baltimore offense managed just 207 total yards - the team's lowest total in eight years - with backup quarterback Cooper Rush under center. With star quarterback Lamar Jackson nursing an injury, Rush was limited to 179 yards passing while throwing three interceptions.

"You have to take care of the ball, especially as a quarterback; it's your job," Rush said after the game. "You just have to make decisions [and] trust your feet. That usually leads to good things."

With the Ravens facing a bye after this weekend's contest against the Rams, Baltimore made the decision to give Jackson an extra week of rest by starting Rush once again.

"Lamar is doing everything he can," Rush said. "He's around, still keeping engaged in the meetings and things like that. [He is] trying to get that body right and get it going. He is in here every day doing all he can."

As Rush prepares to start once again, the Ravens bolstered their quarterback depth behind the veteran quarterback by activating Tyler Huntley from the practice squad.

"We have activated QB Tyler Huntley and S Keondre Jackson from the practice squad (standard elevations). We have also signed DT C.J. Okoye from the practice squad to the 53-man roster, and waived S Reuben Lowery," the team said in a statement on social media.

"We believe in 'Coop,' and we believe in what we have," Ravens wide receiver Zay Flowers said of the team's backup quarterback. "We believe in our team, so I think we'll be alright."

Baltimore hasn't found much success with Jackson out of the starting lineup. The team is just 4-11 when he doesn't play and have lost their last five games without the two-time NFL MVP on the field while failing to socre more than 17 points in any of those contests.
