The Baltimore Ravens have struggled while navigating the absence of star quarterback Lamar Jackson. Since Jackson suffered a hamstring injury in the loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 4, the offense has lacked its trademark explosiveness. The Ravens have lost all three games without their dynamic leader and are 1-5 heading into Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears.
Backup quarterbacks have split duties under center, and the unit’s production has dipped in key moments. Jackson’s mobility and arm talent are central to the Ravens’ identity, and as they prepare for a crucial Week 8 matchup, questions about his recovery continue to shape the team’s outlook and offensive planning.
For the first time since suffering the hamstring injury, Jackson was a full participant in practice this week and was officially listed as questionable for Sunday’s game. The development marks a significant step forward, and head coach John Harbaugh noted that the team will evaluate Jackson’s response to consecutive days of full practice before making a final call.
When healthy, Jackson transforms Baltimore’s attack—his ability to extend plays and create mismatches has long been the cornerstone of the Ravens’ offense. Before his injury, he ranked among the league leaders in passer rating (130.5), throwing for 869 yards, 10 touchdowns and one interception in four games.
As the league anticipates Jackson’s potential return to action this week, Baltimore announced that quarterback Tyler Huntley has been signed to the team’s 53-man roster.

Huntley, 27, has spent most of his career with the Ravens and is well-acquainted with their offensive system. Over 26 career appearances and 14 starts, he has thrown for 2,854 yards and 11 touchdowns. He spent last season with the Miami Dolphins, appearing in five games and throwing for 829 yards and three touchdowns
Huntley, who has now played five seasons in Baltimore, has proven dependable in relief, stepping in during previous absences by Jackson. His only appearance this season came in the Ravens Week 6 loss to the Los Angeles Rams, where he was brought in to replace Cooper Rush.
His addition gives the Ravens stability at quarterback while Jackson continues to work his way back. Whether Jackson returns this weekend or not, Baltimore’s offense appears to be regaining direction at a critical point in the season.
