Ravens OC Greg Roman on QB Lamar Jackson: 'I think it's the best I've ever seen him throw it'

Baltimore Ravens star quarterback Lamar Jackson continues to make news this summer for reasons not related to his past in-game successes.

Jackson noticeably added bulk and muscle during offseason workouts and remains in the final year of his rookie contract in the early days of training camp. On Thursday, both the 2019 NFL Most Valuable Player and head coach John Harbaugh sounded optimistic when speaking with reporters that the two sides will come to terms on a long-term agreement before the regular season gets underway in September. On Friday, Baltimore offensive coordinator Greg Roman offered some interesting praise for his signal-caller.

"I think it's the best I've ever seen him throw it thus far," Roman remarked, according to Nick Shook of the league's website. "What are we, three days in? And he's probably throwing it better than I've ever seen him throw it. He's really worked hard in the offseason and it's showing. So we've just got to build on that. It's really exciting, and we're all very excited."

Jackson has served as his own agent throughout the negotiating process. Whether or not that will help the 25-year-old land the type of deal he desires has yet to be determined, but he apparently has developed an impressive grip.

"When I shake his hand, it feels a little different," Roman added about Jackson.

Per Matt Cohen of the Baltimore Sun (h/t Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk), Jackson did not throw an interception across three days of practice and completed 12 of 16 attempts on Friday. If he is at all distracted by his contract situation, it wasn't noticeable in his early camp performances.
