Ravens Place David Ojabo on Injured Reserve; Tyus Bowser Nearing Return

On Monday, Ravens coach John Harbaugh offered updates on some defensive players heading into the bye week. Second-year linebacker David Ojabo went under the knife to repair a partially torn ACL.

Ojabo will miss the rest of the season.

The former Michigan Wolverine hasn't played since Week 3, but he could never get his knee right and decided surgery was the answer, finally ending his 2023 season. He registered six tackles, one sack and one forced fumble.

“He had to make a decision about it, in terms of whether to risk it or not,” Harbaugh said, via the team website. “Every medical expert said to get it fixed. He wanted to play, but even I told him, ‘Man, you’ve got to get that right for the rest of your career,’ because it’s a clean type of surgery. He’ll be rolling again, training camp at the latest.”

Ravens defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald coached Ojabo in college and with the Ravens.

“He’s going to have a great career,” Macdonald said. “Obviously you feel for him the way his career has started. He’s dealing with adversity right now, so he needs our support and he has it.”

Ojabo tore his Achilles at Michigan Pro Day before the 2022 NFL Draft and was forced to miss most of his rookie season while recovering. The second-round pick played two games for the Ravens last season and tallied two sacks, seven tackles, two quarterback hits and two forced fumbles.

Tyus Bowser is still healing from a knee injury that he suffered over the summer. Harbaugh indicated the team hopes he can return this season, but he still has not been able to participate in practice yet.
