Ravens QB Lamar Jackson reports early to training camp while awaiting new contract

2019 first-overall pick Kyler Murray agreed to a massive contract extension with the Arizona Cardinals on Thursday. A fellow first-round quarterback who was drafted in 2018 is still waiting for a new deal but reported early to his team's training camp on Thursday.

Jackson's offseason, for the most part, hasn't been as dramatic and tense as Murray's, with the Louisville product stating multiple times that he intends to stay in Baltimore long term. Jackson attended Ravens mandatory minicamp in June and his arrival to the team's facilities on Thursday is a good sign.

The former MVP missed the final four games of the 2021 season due to an ankle injury and ended the year with a 64.4% completion percentage for 2,882 passing yards and 767 more yards on the ground. Jackson's 16 passing touchdowns however, were his fewest since his rookie season, his 13 interceptions were a career high and his two rushing touchdowns were a career low.

Baltimore picked up Jackson's fifth-year option, worth $27.69 million fully guaranteed, earlier this year.
