The Baltimore Ravens had the pleasure of ending the Pittsburgh Steelers' season earlier this year when they two matched up in the playoffs and Baltimore won the game handily. This rivalry has become one of the NFL's most fierce rivalries and that's why Ravens fans will always be tuned into what the Steelers are doing every offseason.
The latest report from Bleacher Report NFL insider James Palmer will have Ravens fans feeling both happy and sad, as Palmer discussed how George Pickens' time with the Steelers could be coming to an end. This is a good thing because Pickens is a good wide receiver but could also be a bad thing since he's quite the drama king.
"[Pickens'] time in Pittsburgh, in a lot of people's minds, is limited -- mine included -- for several reasons," Palmer said. "[The Steelers] don't pay DK Metcalf what you paid him and then pay the other receiver a high-caliber salary. You don't make the trade for DK Metcalf giving up a second [round draft pick] if you're gonna end up giving money to the other receiver. It has not gone well behind the scenes at all between George Pickens and the Pittsburgh Steelers and everybody involved."
While Palmer did state that Pickens could end up playing in Pittsburgh in 2025, he said that the wide receiver will be off the Steelers' roster by 2026. This means that a good wide receiver could be leaving the AFC North soon enough.
Pickens appeared in two of the three games against Baltimore last season and went for over 80 yards in both performances. He had eight catches for 89 yards in the regular-season appearance and five catches for 87 yards and a touchdown in the playoff performance. In other words, he knows how to put up yards against the Ravens.
The AFC North losing Pickens would mostly be a good thing but there's no denying that the drama he brings isn't a distraction for Pittsburgh and entertaining for Ravens fans. That will be the saddest part if Pickens does end up in a new division in the future. But, for the most part, seeing him leave would mean a talented wideout is departing an already stacked division and that makes things a little easier for the Baltimore Ravens moving forward.
