Ravens set for big decisions on futures of Rashod Bateman, Odafe Oweh after latest NFL news

The NFL has released the fifth-year option numbers for those who were selected in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft.

All 32 players who were picked in the opening round of the 2021 NFL Draft qualify for one of four salaries. At the top of the tier are for those such players who have been voted to multiple Pro Bowls on the original ballot, and they can receive a fifth-year base salary that is equal to the franchise tender at their position. The second and third tiers include one-time Pro Bowl nod and playtime requirements, respectively.

Finally, the first-round picks from the 2021 NFL Draft who did not qualify for any of the top three tiers are eligible to receive a fifth-year base salary that is calculated from the average of the 3rd-to-25th highest salaries at their position over the last five years. This is where Ravens wide receiver Rashod Bateman and Odafe Oweh fall under.

Bateman did not make a single Pro Bowl over his opening three seasons in Baltimore, and he failed to meet the playtime requirement. Thus, his fifth-year option has been set at $14.435 million.

As with Bateman, Oweh has not earned a Pro Bowl nod, and he did not reach the playtime requirement. The former Penn State standout’s fifth-year option has been set at $13.251 million.

Baltimore has until May 2 to make a final call on the fifth-year options of both Bateman and Oweh.
