Ravens Share Lamar Jackson Injury Update After Missing Practice

Lamar Jackson turned in a strong performance on Sunday as he led the Baltimore Ravens to a dominant 24-0 shutout of Joe Burrow and their AFC North rivals, the Cincinnati Bengals. Jackson logged 8-of-12 completed passes in the victory for 150 yards, two touchdowns and one interception, while also adding 26 rushing yards on two carries.

Jackson, however, was forced to miss practice on Wednesday, which was the team’s first session ahead of Sunday’s matchup against the 11-3 New England Patriots. Jackson is currently nursing an illness, which has added a bit of doubt surrounding his status for the Patriots game.

Baltimore improved to 7-7 after defeating the Bengals. They are still fighting for a spot in the playoffs, and the result of Sunday’s contest against a Patriots side that is coming off a Week 15 loss will have a significant impact on the Ravens’ chase for a postseason berth.

They will need Jackson to be at his best on Sunday. The former NFL MVP, however, is battling a flu-like illness, which forced him to sit out the team’s first practice of the week. The good news is that Jackson appears to have shaken off the illness. The Ravens announced on Thursday that he was a full participant in practice.

While there has been no official confirmation of Jackson’s status for Sunday’s game, the fact that he was able to practice in full on Thursday bodes well for his chances to suit up against New England. At this point, barring any unforeseen setbacks, the 28-year-old is expected to start at center come Sunday.

The Ravens enter Week 16 second in the AFC North behind the 8-6 Pittsburgh Steelers, who secured a big win over the Miami Dolphins on Monday. Baltimore is currently ninth in the conference and still has its work cut out for it in its last three games, as Jackson and Co. look to lock in a playoff spot.
