Ravens sign veteran defensive lineman

The Ravens continue to add to their defensive line after losing Calais Campbell this offseason.

On Wednesday, Baltimore announced the team was signing veteran DT Angelo Blackson, who has spent time with the Titans, Texans, Cardinals and Bears thus far in his career.

Blackson was consistently part of Chicago's rotation on its defensive line over the past two seasons, totaling 65 tackles, 2.5 sacks and one interception as a Bear.

The 30-year-old will join a defensive line group that includes Michael Pierce, Justin Madubuike, Broderick Washington, Brent Urban and Travis Jones.

Although, there will be a familiar face as he previously played for defensive line coach Anthony Weaver for three years in Houston.

He will jump right into the team's OTAs when he arrives this week, but it may be an uphill battle to make the Ravens' 53-man roster. However, that is nothing new for Blackson as Baltimore will be his fifth team since entering the league as a fourth-round pick in 2015.

The veteran certainly brings experience with 42 starts, 166 tackles and 8.5 sacks in eight seasons, so he'll provide great depth at the least. If Blackson can help fill the void left by Campbell, he may just find a spot on the roster come August.
