Ravens Suffer Historic Collapse After Bengals Loss

The Baltimore Ravens suffered one of the most stunning defeats in franchise history Sunday, blowing a 13-point halftime lead before losing 35-13 to the Cincinnati Bengals.

The collapse made Baltimore the first NFL team since 1950 to lose by at least 20 points after leading by 13 or more at halftime.

Head coach Jesse Minter acknowledged the team’s inconsistency.

“The message is that I think in every game we’ve proven that we’re good enough to be the type of team that we want to be, and we’ve proven that we’re bad enough to be a not very good team as well,” Minter said.

Minter said Baltimore must find a steadier approach instead of allowing momentum to dictate its performance. The Ravens held Joe Burrow and Cincinnati scoreless in the first half but could not sustain that effort.

The Bengals scored touchdowns on five consecutive second-half drives, turning Baltimore’s promising start into a blowout. The Ravens’ offense also failed to score after halftime.

The defeat dropped Baltimore to 4-3 and left the Ravens in last place in the AFC North. They are 0-2 against division opponents, making their path back into contention more difficult.

Quarterback Lamar Jackson missed his third straight game with an ankle injury, with Tyler Huntley starting in his place. Still, Minter pointed to the team’s inconsistency rather than blaming the result on one absence.

Baltimore has little time to dwell on the loss. The Ravens visit the Buffalo Bills next before returning home to face the Jacksonville Jaguars on a short week.

The collapse raises questions about whether Baltimore can put together four consistent quarters. Minter said the team is at a point in its season and must decide what kind of team it wants to be. Its response over the next two games will be important.
