Ravens take another shot at WR in latest mock draft

The Ravens haven't had the greatest track record of drafting wide receivers, outside of 2023 first-round WR Zay Flowers. But Pro Football Focus believes they will take another shot at the position in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Baltimore doesn't know what its exact pick in the first round will be yet as it will face the Chiefs for a spot in Super Bowl LVIII this Sunday.

But for this exercise, PFF has the Ravens selecting Texas WR Adonai Mitchell with pick No. 32 in its latest mock draft.

"Baltimore gets most of its size in the receiving game from the tight end room," PFF's Trevor Sikkema writes. "But I love the idea of adding the 6-foot-4 Mitchell as the "X" receiver. Mitchell's finesse and movement skills bode well for red-zone efficiency, and he is a good sideline receiver."

Mitchell transferred from Georgia to play for Texas in 2023 and it's safe to say it was a good decision. The 21-year-old posted 55 catches for 845 yards and 11 touchdowns, which were all highs in his collegiate career.

Although the team's latest miss on WR Rashod Bateman (367 yards and one touchdown) in 2021 could scare fans about using another first-round pick on a wide receiver, it's unlikely Mitchell could be much worse.

Adding to QB Lamar Jackson's arsenal makes sense heading into 2024 since there is a chance the Ravens lose some of their playmakers this offseason.

Veteran wide receivers Odell Beckham Jr. and Nelson Agholor are both playing on one-year deals and will become free agents following the season. There is an argument to be made that Baltimore should draft another receiver anyway as both players are now in their 30s.

The Ravens already have one of the best rosters in the NFL. But drafting another wide receiver like Mitchell to pair with Flowers would be a smart move and the classic case of the rich getting richer.
