Ravens TE Mark Andrews’ quick thinking helps save woman’s life on plane during mid-air emergency

Mark Andrews is a hero on and off the field! On Monday, the Baltimore Ravens tight end was headed to his home in Phoenix, Arizona on a Southwest plane following his team’s early exit from the postseason. During his flight, the tight end saved a woman’s life with his quick thinking during a mid-air emergency.

Andrew Springs, a fellow passenger on the same plane, detailed the scary events in a thread on the social media platform X. According to Springs, a woman had a medical emergency mid-air. The woman’s blood pressure was extremely low, and she had trouble breathing.

The doctor and the nurse, who happened to be on board, attended to the woman while the Ravens tight end Mark Andrews stepped up to help. When the medical personnel couldn’t find a strong pulse, Andrews, who is a Type 1 diabetic, offered his diabetic testing kit and reportedly instructed them on how to use his kit.

They were able to help the woman stabilize for the rest of the flight. According to ESPN, the unnamed woman was in stable condition when she received an evaluation once the flight landed. She also refused any further treatment or a trip to the hospital.

Southwest Airlines did not disclose the name of the woman, but they confirmed that medical personnel were able to meet her once the flight landed.

Nonetheless, fans have been praising Mark Andrews’ quick thinking that helped save a woman’s life in mid-flight. Andrew Springs described the incident as scary, but also said seeing people come together to save a life was truly amazing.

Ravens TE Mark Andrews opens up about the plane incident

After helping save a woman’s life with swift thinking during a mid-flight emergency, the Baltimore Ravens’ star tight Mark Andrews opened up about the incident.

In a statement released by the Ravens, Andrews credited the doctor, the nurse, and the flight attendants and crowned them as ‘real heroes’ who saved the woman.

In addition to the fast acting flight attendants, the real heroes are the nurse and doctor who also happened to be on the plane. Thankfully, they were able to provide the woman the quick assistance she needed. Mark Andrews said via statement

On the sporting side of things, the Ravens’ tight end headed home following the Ravens’ unfortunate early exit from the postseason. Now, they are back to the drawing board, where they will try to fix their issues in the long off-season.
