The Baltimore Ravens are conducting their final week of Organized Team Activities (OTAs) this week as the majority of the league is conducting mandatory minicamp. Baltimore's minicamp comes later this month, but one player who has been absent for most of the on-field workouts in Baltimore this offseason has made their return ahead of mandatory attendance. Kyle Hamilton was back on the field with his teammates today.
Hamilton is one of a slew of young players who is eligible for a contract extension with the Ravens this offseason, although the team does have a luxury with Hamilton that they don't have with a number of other players under contract in 2025. Hamilton has the fifth-year option to keep him on the team in 2026 if they can't secure a deal this summer to keep one of the best defenders in football long-term.
Given the added flexibility Baltimore has with Hamilton's contract, the team may choose to leave him on the back burner for the time being. Given that Hamilton has found his way back to voluntary workouts ahead of mandatory minicamp, there's little reason to think that the young defender will put any pressure on the Ravens to expedite the process.
The pressure simply lies in how soon the Ravens think the next market reset is coming and if they're concerned about a ballooning price that may force their hand. Kerby Joseph most recently reset the market in Detroit, signing a four-year extension valued at an average of $21.5 million per season. Hamilton will likely, in time, top that number.
But there's plenty of time for the details to come to place and for now, the Ravens should just enjoy seeing one of their best players mixing it up with the group and prepping for training camp later this summer.
