Rashod Bateman has spent his entire NFL career in Baltimore, but it wouldn’t surprise one insider if the wide receiver is moved ahead of the trade deadline. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler says that he’s “keeping an eye” on Bateman’s availability over the next few weeks.
Bateman hasn’t lived up to his first-round billing during his five-plus seasons with the Ravens, and he’s settled in as a secondary receiving piece behind WR1 Zay Flowers. As Fowler notes, this means the wideout’s production “comes and goes.” The organization also seems high on third-round rookie Ja’Kobi Lane, who is expected to return to practice after undergoing wrist surgery earlier this season.
While the 26-year-old hasn’t been very consistent during his Ravens stint, suitors would surely be interested in him as a vertical threat. Plus, Bateman is due $6.5MM in 2026 and $8.25MM in 2027, making him an affordable trade target for WR-needy teams. This also wouldn’t represent the first time Bateman has potentially been available; he was mentioned as a trade candidate as recently as this past offseason. The organization even gave him permission to seek a trade back in 2025.
On the flip side, the Ravens currently sit atop the AFC North with a 4-1 record, and Fowler wonders if the front office will be all that willing to subtract pieces from their offense. Plus, Bateman has shown that he can capably fill in for Flowers; Bateman hauled in seven targets for 88 yards and a score when Flowers was sidelined for Week 2. While the Ravens can pencil in Flowers and Lane on their depth chart, the rest of the team’s WR corps, which consists of Devontez Walker and fourth-round rookie Elijah Sarratt, don’t provide the same intrigue.
In 69 career contests, Bateman has been limited to only 34.5 yards per game. His best season came in 2024, when he finished with 45 catches for 756 yards and nine touchdowns. That performance prompted the Ravens to hand him a three-year, $36.75MM extension ($20MM guaranteed). He’s coming off a 2025 campaign where he was limited to only 19 catches for 224 yards and two scores in 13 games.
